Time And Duration

The Excellence Center in Europe, welcomes students, English native and non-native speakers, and people from all countries who are 18 to 70 years old to join any of the Center’s volunteer, internship, and Arabic programs.

The period of participation can span anywhere from 1 to 13 weeks. For volunteers, interns, and students, the Excellence Center in Europe’s program flexibility is designed to work around their schedules, with programs being available year-round (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) and starting and ending dates up to the participant’s choice!

What Can I Do During My Time Volunteering in Germany?

You have the opportunity to do a lot of different things. Normally, we start the day with breakfast at the Center.  Staff, volunteers, interns, and students share stories and talk about the day or week plans. As a volunteer in Germany, you will be kindly asked to teach some conversational English courses and help other teachers do so. Additionally, we would like to ask you to write some articles about the center and volunteering in Germany.

Furthermore, as a volunteer, you will receive 3 hours of Arabic or German language, and you can choose which language you want to learn. The Center also organizes visits to different sites in the city of Halle. Finally, you will have the opportunity to meet new people including Germans, Arabs, immigrants, and refugees, and also engage with them in different activities.

Who Can Join These Short-term Volunteer Programs?

In general, programs are suitable for people who:

  • Aged 18-75 years old.
  • University and college students.
  • Gap year students.
  • University students who wish to do a semester abroad (University Credit)
  • Participants can only stay for a short period due to work or family commitments.

Furthermore, you’re able to change your start date entirely free of charge if requested at least two weeks beforehand.

Is Speaking German Obligatory?

No. Good English skills are sufficient; the main language at the Excellence Center in Europe is English. Of course, speaking German is an extra advantage but you will be alright with the English language.

The Center organizes language courses so you will get 3 hours of Spoken German to be able to communicate with people during your time in Germany.

Do I Need a Visa to the Excellence Center in Europe?

People from other EU countries, the USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, the UK, and many others do not need to apply for a visa in advance, you will get a tourist visa on arrival for three months and you can volunteer in Germany with it. People from Africa, some Asian countries, the Middle East, and South America need a visa to enter Germany, they can apply also for a tourist visa. The Excellence Center in Europe will help by providing an invitation letter.

What is the Best Time to Apply for Volunteering in Germany?

It is strongly recommended to apply for the program and reserve your spot in the program for 2 weeks to 6 months in advance. You can book your spot in the program by filling out a form and paying the application fee.

Summer Programs – Volunteer Abroad

While the volunteer program in Germany is available all year, the Summer is the most advantageous and exciting time to apply. With a team from all around the world, the Excellence Center in Europe is rife with students throughout May, June, July, and August, making it the perfect time to Intern after graduation.

The program includes a language course (3 hours of German per week), responsibilities as an English Teacher, housing, logistic help, breakfast 4 days a week, and an immersive experience in our community in Halle. The program can last between 1-13 weeks- as you decide for yourself. Winter Volunteer Programs

The Excellence Center in Europe offers winter volunteer and internship programs which start from October to late March for the people who would like to come to Europe to volunteer, study a new language, and meet new cultures and people. Volunteers and interns can stay from 1-13 weeks.

Will There Be Other Volunteers At The Center?

Yes, the Excellence Center in Europe hosts more than one volunteer at a time. Normally, we have 3-4 volunteers at the same time, and some of them might volunteer in Germany short term and some long term.
