Germany, a country which has a strong economy and is a popular destination for tourism and study, has received thousands of refugees in recent years, especially from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as many African countries.
All these refugees are faced with learning how to adapt and assimilate into German, or other European, culture. This great influx of refugees has created a need for persons to engage and assist the refugees in skills needed for adaptation and assimilation.
Volunteer and Internships in Halle, Germany!
The Excellence Center in Europe is located in the city of Halle, Germany, which is about one to two hours northwest of Leipzig and Dresden. The Excellence Center, by maintaining a qualified and experienced staff who teach language skills and skills that assist refugees in adapting to life in Halle, provides numerous volunteer programs.
These volunteer and internship programs in Halle in 2019 are designed to aid the teaching of language and life skills to the many refugees now residing in Halle so that they can more easily adapt to German and Western lifestyles. Volunteers work side by side with our staff.
How long can I volunteer or intern at in Germany?
The volunteer and internship programs are designed to be flexible in order to meet your scheduling needs. You may apply to a program year round, and you are the one who chooses when to begin and end your particular volunteer program. You decide whether you will volunteer from one week up to three months.
What is included in my volunteer program fee?
For the duration of your program, you will reside with a host family in the city of Halle. This gives you the benefit of being immersed in the daily life of the family and community.
This will allow you to learn about the German and Arabic cultures, their traditions and customs. You will join in breakfast each morning at the Center for the duration of your program. You will receive three hours per week of German or Arabic (your choice) language instruction.
You will participate in sightseeing tours in the city of Halle. Upon completion of your volunteer program, you will receive a certificate of participation and a recommendation letter.
What volunteer and internship activities will I be participating in Germany?
- Educational activities
International volunteers will create and organize English language conversational activities. Rather than emphasizing grammar rules, the focus is on learning by doing, such as through presentations, games, and pair and group work.
- Entertainment activities
Learning can easily occur through entertainment. Entertainment activities may include musical activities, drawing sessions, sports activities, educational games, and arts and crafts. However, do not worry about organizing these on your own. You will assist our local staff in creating and organizing these activities.
