Teaching is an interactive and student-centered process. It requires thorough preparation, effective lesson plans, and good classroom management. The Teaching Methods in Germany program is a program offered by the Excellence Center in Europe that will teach you effective teaching methods, class management, and how to write lesson plans. This program is a great opportunity for those who are thinking about future teaching careers and would enjoy an introduction to the field.
The Teaching Methods in Germany program takes place in actual classrooms under the supervision of qualified teachers. By working with your supervising teacher, you will actively engage with students and their learning paths.
What does this program include?

- As part of your immersion, you will live with a host family for the duration of your program.
Is there a deadline for my application? How long may I participate in this program?
The Teaching Methods in Germany programhas no deadline which means that you can apply to the program year-round. In addition, you will choose your start and end dates. While the minimum period of participation is one week, you may participate for up to three months.

The program fee includes: pre-departure support, accommodations for the duration of your program, some meals, full coordination while interning in Germany, and some sightseeing in the city of Halle.
Who is eligible to apply to this program?
The Teaching Methods in Germany programis open to persons between the ages of 18 and 75 years old. People of all nationalities, employment and educational backgrounds are welcome to apply. No academic degree is required to participate.
Which Airport Should I fly to?
The easiest way to get to the Excellence Center in Germany is to fly to Leipzig/Halle Airport. It takes about 25 minutes from the airport to the Center via train.
However, if you are coming from one of Berlin’s airports, you have two choices in ways to travel to the Center. Your first choice is to come by a bus operated by companies such as FlixBus or Meinfernbus; this bus ride takes about two hours. Your second choice is to come by train from Berlin-Central station; this train ride takes about one and a half hours.
Do I have to obtain a visa to Germany?
If you are coming from a European country that has signed the Schengen agreement, then you don’t need a visa to enter Germany. For those who come from countries which are part of a visa free program, you are allowed to stay in Germany up to three months.
If you need a visa to enter Germany, then you need to apply for a Schengen visa. This visa will allow you to enter and stay in Germany for a maximum period of 3 months (90 days). Having a visa does not mean that you are allowed to be employed in Germany (not even as a freelancer). Check the Germany government website to determine your particular visa requirement.
