In recent years Germany has received approximately one million refugees who have come from Syria. Because of this massive influx of refugees to Germany, a plethora of volunteer and internship opportunities have been created to assist refugees in learning new skills and adaptations for maximizing assimilation into German life.

Volunteers and interns can offer a variety of experiences, talents, and abilities to young refugees and children who need to learn coping skills, and new knowledge and abilities for successful futures in their new homeland, as well as bright and positive outcomes for Germany and Europe.

The Excellence Center in Europe was established in the city of Halle almost eight years ago as a youth initiative to assist the refugees who live and reside in Halle.

How long can I intern at the Excellence Center, Halle?

Internship programs at the Excellence Center are designed to provide flexibility for you and your schedule.  Not only can you apply at any time of the year, but you may also choose your own start and end dates for interning.

Our programs run from one to three months long – you decide on the length of your commitment.

What are the benefits of the volunteer programs?

As an intern in one of our volunteer programs, your one-time fee includes the following:

  •  You will receive three hours per week of language instruction in either German or Arabic – your choice.
  • You will join in the many social and cultural activities organized by the Center. These activities are designed to promote language practice, and cultural education exchange between the refugees and the international interns. Our aim is to build bridges between cultures.
  • You reside with a Host Family

For the duration of your volunteer and internship program, you will reside with a local host family. This will give you a degree of language and cultural immersion so that you practice newly learned language skills.
