From Brazil to Germany, Lilian who volunteered at the Excellence Center in Europe and joined the Teach English in Germany program. Lillian taught English to children and adults through a range of activities and interactive exercises that helped students improve their English in a short time and build a dictionary of words.

For those who do not know much about this program you have some information. The English Language Program is one of the programs offered by the Excellence Center, which gives you the opportunity to teach English to refugees and those interested in learning English as well as learning German or Arabic during her stay.

In addition to teaching English, she stayed with a host family during her time in Halle, where she described her experience as brilliant and enjoyed the time she spent with them. Lillan described the family as a nice family where they helped her along with them and did not have the words she could describe them by.

Lillian also joined German classes, where she got some lessons that were interesting, she said. Leilan described the time she spent here with a nice time, which enabled her to learn German and Arabic at the same time, as well as stories of refugees or people living in the city, describing their experience of living in Germany and what are the most important challenges they face in their daily life.

Lillian said every experience she had with each person was different, with children or adults who taught them English. “Everyone at Excellence center has something to offer and it’s true that she came here to volunteer and help people, specifically refugees, but she also learns a lot from them during her stay in Germany.” She continued by saying “this is true as each person here is different and each story is different with its details and special moments”.

Lailan has conducted various activities with Syrian refugees in the city, where she has also been able to learn about their living conditions and daily life in a country where people speak a different language and have customs and traditions that are completely different from the customs and traditions of their homeland, Syria. As well as the advantages of living in Germany and the opportunities offered to them in the fields of education, health, language studies and others.

“My experiences at the Excellence Center helped me to see the reality of others, to make my perceptions of refugees in Germany and to have a good idea about it, so I can learn a lot and apply with learning in my country Brazil in similar situations,” she said. It worth mentioning that Germany is the only European country to host nearly one million refugees over the past five years across Germany. The German government offers various assistance, such as German language courses, monthly stipends, housing and monthly childcare expenses.

She ended her experience by giving advice to everyone to come to Germany and everyone has to do this experiment and it is one of the most influential experiences of her life. Lillian sees integration as important for refugees in Germany, where you can live in Germany and build a good future. If you want to volunteer at the Excellence Center, you should not hesitate to apply for volunteerism in Germany.
