Teaching English in Germany Summer: As summer approaches, you may be wondering about how you will spend your summer months. If you desire to travel and make a meaningful impact with your time, then we invite you to consider teaching English in Germany this summer with the Excellence Center in Europe. Our teaching English volunteer program affords travelers the opportunity to explore a new country while benefiting the lives of those they work with.
Where in Germany?
The Excellence Center in Europe is located in Halle (Saale), Germany. This German city is a multicultural area where many Germans, immigrants, and refugees reside. Because of the diversity of the city, there are many people who are interested in learning and perfecting their English skills. As a volunteer teacher, you will be working with students of all ages and all levels. At this point, you may be wondering if you need teaching experience to participate in this program. The answer is no.
While background experience would be a benefit to you and the classroom, it is not required. The Excellence Center in Europe will provide participants with the necessary resources, teaching guides, and support to conduct English lessons. The only thing that is required of volunteers is fluency in English.
Experience German Culture
As a participant in the teaching English volunteer program, you will not only be able to experience German culture. With the number of Arabs living in Halle (Saale), volunteers will also be able to experience Arab culture during their program. The Excellence Center organizes many educational, social, and communal activities with refugees and immigrants in the area, all of which volunteers are invited to participate in.
If you have a particular desire to discover Arab culture or learn the Arabic language, then our program will be of even more interest to you. Our volunteers are allotted 3 hours of private Arabic lessons per week where they can study the language, then put their skills into practice when interacting with native Arabic speakers. During these lessons, you can choose to study the Palestinian or Syrian spoken dialect of Arabic.

Teaching English in Germany also means that participants can spend their free time traveling around the country and around Europe at large. Travel in Europe is easy and relatively inexpensive, so on the weekends volunteers have many opportunities to visit European cities and countries that are on their bucket list.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 70 years old and want to volunteer abroad this summer, then consider joining the team at the Excellence Center in Europe. Our teaching English volunteer program has flexible start and end dates, which means that you as the participate can decide what works for your schedule. Visa to Germany
If you are coming from a European country that has signed the Schengen agreement, then you do not need a visa to enter Germany. For those who come from countries that are a part of this program, you are permitted to stay in Germany for up to three months.
All other travelers will need to apply for a Schengen visa to enter Germany. This visa will allow you to enter and stay in Germany for a maximum period of 3 months (90 days). It is important to note that this visa prohibits visa-holders from getting a job (even as a freelance) during their stay.
